To achieve this, the college will continue to focus on enhancing advising and improving auto graduation processes for short certificates and certificates. Overall retention (fall-to-fall) and persistence (fall-to-spring) rates are internally calculated by the College and based on the entire student body, minus graduates. The target retention rate for AY 2021-22 is 38% and the target persistence rate 67%. These targets are in line with the college鈥檚 strategic plan to increase retention and persistence rates by 2% annually. The minimum threshold for the retention rate is 35%, based on the average retention rate for the past three years and the aspirational threshold is 46%, based on a 10% increase in the previous year鈥檚 retention rate. The minimum threshold for the persistence rate is 64%, based on the average persistence rate for the college for the past three years and the aspirational threshold is 75%, based on a 10% increase in the previous year鈥檚 retention rate.
